![]() ![]() I like Fate/Extra Last Encore a lot but it's basically made entirely for fans of the "Extra" subseries. People who like flashy, fight-heavy shonen anime tend to like this one a lot. It takes a bunch of ideas from other Fate works, but strips down the heavy themes and character deconstruction in favor of focusing more on the fights. The Heaven's Feel movies are excellent but basically require previous knowledge from watching/reading a different scenario first (like the UBW TV anime), because it skips over a bunch of early stuff that the viewers should know already before the story starts to heavily diverge.įate/Apocrypha requires no prior knowledge and can basically be described as "Fate with the edges filed down". It's a good place to jump in, although not as good as Fate/Zero. Some people only really like F/Z because of this, and some Fate fans get mad when people watch F/Z, then watch other Fate things and go "oh wow this ain't for me, bye".įor adaptations of Fate/Stay Night: The Unlimited Blade Works TV anime is pretty good. F/Z has a mostly adult cast and follows multiple perspectives, while most other Fate works follow a high school aged teenager the entire time. Although some Fate series fans get mad if you watch it first because it spoils some stuff about the story it's a prequel of (by the same token though, F/SN will spoil some things about F/Z), or because they think people who watch F/Z first won't become "true Fate fans". It's generally considered the best of the lot and requires no prior knowledge.
